Intentional Bumps and Sunny-Shiny Nails

It's another rainy afternoon here in the 'evergreen' northwest, which means that I'm confined to be [mostly] indoors. As this past weekend was quite blustery and rainy, and I was coming off of a sunny and warm week high, I needed a little pick-me-up over the weekend. I painted four nails on each hand a bright satiny yellow nail polish, (Sephora by OPI's Cab Fare, to be exact) with the remaining nails painted a bright sky blue with a sheer pearl finish over top (Sally Hansen's X-treme Wear in Blue Me Away and China Glaze's Rainbow).

Cab Fare is one of my most favorite nail polishes--its amazing brightness and slight golden sparkle cheer me up on any given day. You would think that yellow is my favorite color as I have three yellow polishes and tend to gravitate towards yellow anything; however, purple is my favorite, closely followed by yellow. Okay, back to the main point. Cab Fare is a beautiful polish, but applies in such a sheer coat that if you don't have a good base color underneath (or millions of layers) then you don't reach a good opacity. My lazy-girl method of applying my nail polish was to apply a bazillion coats and wait for it all to dry--which does take a LONG time! But I was too lazy to sit and wait between coats!

Well, as you could easily anticipate, I boogered up one of my nails. Instead of trying to fix it right away, I decided to leave it for the time being...then I boogered up another one on the same hand. At this point, it actually looked kind of interesting and cool, so I decided to leave them. To have somewhat symmetrical-looking patterns, I intentionally boogered up two nails on the other hand.

Here's the result:

Yes, my cuticles look horrendous right now!

What do you think? Have you ever intentionally messed up your nail polish to make it look somewhat more interesting? Or are you more of a perfectionista who will redo it?

Yellow, sun-shiny nails,

Em
